‘Letters to Andy Warhol’ exhibition, in partnership with Cadillac, open until the end of the week

The travelling exhibition is on show at Dubai Design District until 16th December
Pieces on show include letter from Yves Saint Laurent and iconic Cadillac prints

Art aficionados in the Middle East only have a few more days to enjoy a unique opportunity to visit the ‘Letters to Andy Warhol’ exhibition, in partnership with Cadillac, which is on show in Dubai Design District (d3) concluding on 16 December.

Uncovering rarely-seen letters and artwork from the archives of The Andy Warhol Museum, the exhibition is free to enter and open to the public from 12:00PM-9:00PM daily. The artwork underscores Warhol’s love of iconic American brands and features some of Cadillac’s well-known models.
With five pieces by Warhol, the exhibition highlights his intimate connection to the worlds of fashion, music, media, art, and celebrity. It also houses the creations of six modern day artists who used the letters to examine their own connection to Warhol’s legacy.
‘Letters to Andy Warhol’ showcases rarely-seen letters from the likes of Yves Saint Laurent, Mick Jagger, the Museum of Modern Art, the New York State Department of Public Works and a mutual friend of his and Truman Capote that offer a glimpse into Warhol’s most personal experiences and relationships. Each letter has inspired artistic contributions and experiences from a roster of talent including Aimee Mullins, Brian Atwood, Chiara Clemente, Derek Blasberg, David LaChapelle, Francesco Clemente, J.J. Martin, Nick Rhodes, Sean Lennon, Sienna Miller and Zac Posen.
Patrick Moore, the director of The Andy Warhol Museum, commented: “This exhibition, showing in the Middle East for the very first time, is an outstanding opportunity for us to showcase Warhol’s life and artwork to a whole new demographic. By partnering with Cadillac, a brand that is the epitome of the American dream, we are sharing Warhol’s legacy. Cars are among the comparatively unknown and unexamined subjects of Warhol’s diverse, vast body of work, but he drew and painted a range of Cadillac models which are now on show in Dubai.”
Christian Soemmer, Managing Director of Cadillac Middle East said, “Cadillac’s collaboration with The Andy Warhol Museum is the perfect platform to demonstrate Cadillac’s heritage in popular American culture. We are proud to host such iconic works and to perpetuate Cadillac’s efforts on a global level to act as a catalyst for innovation and inspiration.”
