Zaha Hadid’s work is impressive. The designer has created a wide variety of pieces for living and for home design, from homewear inspireed by architectural shapes, and sculptural jewellery, to limited edition furniture, and innovative installations for both exterior and interior. Throughout is career she managed to reinvent herself by exploring the latest in technological and material innovations, combined wi the bespoke craftsmanshop. Zaha Hadid has always pushed the boundaries of traditional design methodologies, which particularity shines out in this last graceful work. Designed to reference the sculptural forms and curves of Hadid’s most famous buildings this stunning eight-piece collection is an opportunity to rediscover Hadid’s universe. This collaboration is a testament both to Hadid’s extraordinary eye as a designer and the effortless way she enabled the simple and the complex to coexist. Crafted in sterling silver and black rhodium, and set with black diamonds, the pieces were carefully engineered to give a voluptuously tactile feeling.
The jewelry collection consists of five rings and three cuff bangles, all inspired by Wangjing Soho, the famous building structure near Beijing in China. Those buildings are renowned for their distinct lines between each floor of windows. Often described as appearing like “dancing Chinese fans”, and even “curved sails”, Wangjing Soho is an important building entering in contemporary design history. In Georg Jensen X Zaha Hadid’s Lamellae Collection, the way of wearing a jewel is completely reimagined. The rings sweeps gently across the hand or soars playfully above the finger, while the cuff bracelet conception permits a natural play with the light as it is wrapped around the wrist in a deceptively simple twist if silver. The silver alternates between a polished and matt effect, which highlight the black rhodium pieces, lending a subtle gleam to graphic, architectural forms.
Distinctive and innovative, yet timeless, this collection introduces a new of thinking and creation jewellery design. Thanks to Zaha Hadid and Georg Hensen’s talent and knowledge the pieces are all design work as well as jewels. The prices depend on the pieces materials, the 4 Gold pieces from the collection range between $22,000 and $25,000, the 10 Silver pieces range between $650 and $3000, the Black Diamong pieces range between $5.000 and $30.000.
