Designed by Kris Van Assche, the Dior Homme Collection for Summer 2017 drives an explicit evolution, channeling the energy of hacienda youth through the industrial landscape of a utopian Fun Fair. This year fashion plays with duality, on the shapes, on the fabrics and of course on the atmosphere, Dior Men Summer 2017 Collection is the crossroad of order and disorder which runn parallel narratives throughout. A Fun Fair with flashbacks to the New Wave mixed to a refined athletic tailoring. “This season there is a sens of colelctive consciousness to the Collection- A remix of shared boyhood memories.” said Kris Van Assche. “I am interested in a synthesis of generations and filtering subcultures through my own lens to tell a new story.” he added.
The silhouette are all far away from formality, the industrial embellishments converge with the innate savoir-faire of the Dior Homme ateliers. The two-piece suit composed of eyelets, sports lacing, staples and screen-printed suiting wools, is disrupting any preconceived expectations. Forgetting the sense of classical rigor, feeling free to walk bare arms, and daring to wear a tonal knitwear, this what the new Dior Homme reinvents. The collection’s hybrid pieces and multiplicity of uniform and sportswear elements creates a call-and-repat of polished utility and tempered rebellion. The garnents are broken memories, worn and destroyed, as the artisanal textiles are youth cruel expressions with pinstripes fray, knits bear scars, houndstooth blurs…
The set was a real Fun Fair, both scary and thrilling, the models were walking under the lights of the small colourful neon. As for the guest, many celebrities responded to the Fun Fair call, from Karl Lagerfeld to A$AP Rocky who is the new face of Dior Homme. The Summer 2017 Collection will surely making you want to participate to the Dior Fun Fair.
