Piper-Heidsieck Gets Dressed Up for the Holidays

Piper-Heidsieck Champagne Holiday Gift Box
The Piper-Heidsieck champagnes are no longer decked out in their red and gold labels. In 1785, Florens-Louis Heidsieck started the champagne producer Heidsieck & Cie and had the honor to present his wine to none other than Marie Antoinette herself. Since that time, down through the centuries and the wars, and up to today, their champagnes have blended excellence and savior-faire.
Excellence because the house and its Cellar Master Regis Camus have won numerous awards, often more than once, including “Sparkling Wine of the Year” (for the 1998 Rare Millesime) and for “Sparkling Winemaker of the Year”. Regis Camus has won the latter eight times overall, even winning it seven times in a row.
Savoir-Faire because the vintage grapes are turned into wine separately and with great care, in order to respect the individual character of their grapes’ origins.
For the end of this year, the house wanted to draw inspiration from the architecture of its headquarters designed by Jacques Ferrier (who later designed the French Pavilion at the Universal Exposition in Shanghai in 2010). The building is encircled by a gold colored exterior frame that echoes that effervescent bubbling of the wine that inspired it. A similar concept was used on the gift boxes for the Cuvée Sublime, the Cuvée Brut and the Rosé Sauvage champagnes.
The Piper-Heidsieck Headquarters
The Cuvée Sublime is a composition Cuvée Brut champagne that has had maturation of a least a year. The prolonged maturation results in a great semi-dry champagne with a golden bronze appearance with fruity and acidic notes.
The Cuvée Brut is made of mostly Pinot Noir grapes, which results in an excellent complexion or clarity in a champagne. The flavor notes are at times those of strawberry and of anise at other times.
Finally the Rose Sauvage blends the Cuvee Brut from Piper-Heidsieck with a generous proportion of red fruit wines from the Champagne region. Its red vermillion, which it gets from the red fruits, offers a rich and crisp taste, accentuated by some spicy touches of Espelette peppers, tea and licorice.
