Jil Sander Menswear Spring/Summer 2014

For her second collection after her return to the house carrying her name, Jil Sander‘s take on menswear for the Spring/Summer season was very much anticipated (to say the least). With minimalism at its core (a staple of Jil Sander creations), this collection is a clean-cut interpretation of modernity and current trends.
White ensembles open the show : shirts, pants, coats, jackets, shoes…you name it, there is a white version of it. Mrs Sander contrasts her white obsession with prints that come in vivid coral, orange black and grey.
Cuts are precise, clean, recognizable of Jil Sander aesthetics. To the asceticism of the strict shapes is injected a good dose of sportswear nods : dual color shirts and lines on the side of the pants easily remind us of sports-clothes. When it comes to more formal wear, Mrs Sander consider cuffed pants an appropriate choice for summer days but she can also don shorts (the kind that resemble skirts as well) and bermuda shorts.
A very ‘Jil’ collection (the designer deserves to become an adjective at this point) supported by a casting including : Guerrino Santulliana, Benjamin Waters, Ben Allen, Laurie Harding, Kristoffer Hasslevall, Abel Van Oeveren, Dylan River, Alexander Ferrario, Justus Eisfeld, Ben Stift, Felix Riess, Janis Ancens, Adrien Sahores, Elliot Vulliod, Justin Sterling and Sam Maouchi.
