John Galliano menswear Spring/Summer 2014

Bill Gaytten is the man in charge of the creative direction of the menswear line for John Galliano. This season was all about prints and colors, happiness and youthfulness.
Edgy and restless, the show had a lot of energy to it, be it regarding the casting or the soundtrack (Cough, Cough by Everything, Everything), we witnessed a complete synergy of the main elements composing a runway show.
Yellow, vivid blue, bloody orange are the strongest colors opening the show and are at first used on full looks, yet we can sense a progression throughout the collection and they are little by little tamed by prints and darker colors. What started as an edgy, almost aggressive color palette subtly transform into a more quiet and demure choice of tints.
Prints are a star of the collection : from 3D illusion zigzag prints to dots and stripes, Bill Gaytten gives us a run for our money. Jacquard is also present on jackets, pants and tunics.
The inclination and attitude of the John Galliano man this season range from classical to laid-back. The designer experiments with layers, uneven lengths which makes this collection destined to hip kids and more generally young people (the kind to wear platform shoes, as they were featured on all of the looks)
The casting included : Corentin Renault, Simon Kotyk, Matthew Bell, Freddie Stoker, Jonathan Bauer Hayden, Yannick Abrath, Tom Webb, Botond Cseke, Reece Sanders, Ian Sharp, Arthur Gosse and Luuk Van Os.
