Dries Van Noten menswear Spring/Summer 2014

Poetic flowers were in full bloom for Dries Van Noten’s Spring/Summer 2014 menswear collection. Nature and plants, both of which are strong themes for the Belgian designer, decorated the clothing for this season.
Dark colors, woven fabric and jacquard were staples throughout the entire collection. Relaxed and elegant, the Dries Van Noten man is on a vacation and that expresses through his clothing. For daywear, he choses casual wear including shorts, sandals and tank tops. Yet the looks get a little more formal thanks to the addition of long tailored coats, buttoned-up shirts and ties.
Street-wear nods are also found in this collection as we witness pieces such as light bomber jackets, parkas and zippers.
For the more ‘serious’ looks, Dries Van Noten makes things dapper, theatrical even. I’m referring here to some of the long coats that appeared mid-show with golden embroideries.
Pants are also part of the collection complete with the natural prints mentioned earlier. Prints mismatch occur in a tasteful and delicate way.
The subtlety of this floral Spring/Summer collection was supported by a casting including : Abiaj Hostvedt, Arthur Gosse, Jester White, Yannick Abrath, Luuk Van Os, Rutger Schoone, Ben Allen, Chris Beek, Alexander Beck, Sam Aouchi, Abel Van Oeveren, Miles Langford, Justin Sterling, Kristoffer Hasslevall, Adrien Sahores, Elvis Jankus, Paul Boche, Tom Webb and the upcoming star Ben Stift who closed the show.
